16-year-old dies in tractor accident
A farm accident claimed the life of a Van Buren County youth Monday evening when the tractor he was driving rolled over, pinning him underneath.
According to Jefferson County Sheriff Gregg Morton, law enforcement officials from the sheriff’s office responded to a 911 call at 6:15 p.m. Monday 5 miles south of Fairfield off Highway 1. When officers arrived, they discovered Jordon Baker, 16, pinned under a tractor. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Baker was mowing hay on a farm his family rents prior to the accident, Morton said. He is the son of Jennifer and Michael Baker.
Assisting at the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office at the scene were the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Reserve, the Fairfield Fire Department and Midwest Ambulance.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Raymond Funeral Home.
