The Jefferson County beef weigh-in was held Saturday at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds.

“We weighed in 62 animals for 32 kids from Jefferson County 4-H.  We weighed four animals for three out-of-county families,” said Kaye Gilbert, the Jefferson County 4-H youth coordinator,

“We retinal image any animal wanting to go to the Iowa State Fair,” she contined. “We retinal imaged 15 animals on Saturday.  We also took DNA samples for five animals for nominations to the AK-SAR-BEN show in Omaha Nebraska this fall.”

Gilbert said it rained most of the morning, but the animals and kids were very patient as the calves were ran through.
