Vedic City golf course development continues
MAHARISHI VEDIC CITY — Tee time in Maharishi Vedic City is still a couple years off.
The development of an 18-hole golf course is an ongoing project for the city. Officials have worked with golf course architect Tom Doak to design an environmentally friendly course that doesn’t require a lot of dirt movement.
Director of economic development and government relations Kent Boyum said the city is considering financing options for the course, which will run an estimated $2 million. The first nine holes, which may be completed sooner, will cost an estimated $1.2 million.
In addition to loans, Boyum said the city is considering private memberships as a source of financing, as well as a Community Attraction and Tourism grant.
Boyum said several members of the community have expressed interest in the golf course and are willing to invest in the project. The course will be public, but will likely offer private membership as well, he said.
