Sandbagging under way in Eldon

Approximately 20 Maharishi School students, parents and faculty are in Eldon today filling sandbags to save the town from floodwaters. The filled bags in the foreground represent the work done before 9:30 a.m. and a line was formed to move them into the fire department building. Another load of sand was delivered for bagging before these were all moved inside. MSAE art instructor and scoutmaster for Troop 108 Greg Thatcher said Linda Manley, Eldon resident and employee of Maharishi University of Management, called at 3 p.m. Wednesday asking for help. Manley’s husband Doug is chief of the Eldon volunteer fire department. An e-mail was sent to all MSAE parents and faculty with the resulting response. Two employees from Cambridge Investment Research also were helping with the sandbagging.
