School, teachers’ group approve master contract
The Fairfield Community School Board of Directors was able to approve the master contract between the district and the Fairfield Community Education Association during the board meeting Monday.
Negotiations for the contract started at the end of February, but an impasse on wages and personal business leaves led to arbitration hearing Aug. 2, with the arbitrator giving his decision about the same time school started, Aug. 18.
The FCEA ratified the master contract earlier Monday.
The school board also approved 114 teacher contracts for the current year.
The teachers were placed on the new teacher’s salary schedule, with continuing staff advancing one step-movement and new hires placed according to experience and educational achievement.
The total salary, which includes regular salary, teacher quality money, pay for additional contract days, additional assignment pay and staff development pay, totals $6.396,549 for the year.
Also during the meeting Monday, the board held its annual organizational meeting.
Gail Miller was re-elected as board president, and Margaret Dwyer was re-elected as vice president.
