Using nothing more than a rope and a tractor to lean on, Fairfield Kiwanis Club member Claude Brown helps raise the Kiwanis Kids’ Day pancake tent as fellow member Jeff Johnston, next to Brown, and others pitch in. The Kiwanians will serve pancakes, sausage and beverages from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday on the Fairfield square. Tickets at the entrance will be $6 per adult and $3 per child. The Kiwanis Kids’ Day parade is to step off at 10 a.m. from the Fairfield High School parking lot and wind its way past the square back to the school. Winners will be announced in Central Park after the parade. Children’s activities in Central Park, the Fairfield Farmers’ Market in Howard Park, the citywide garage sale at the Court and Washington municipal parking lot also are planned. The day will end with a Live on the Square concert. A beverage garden and food booth open at 5 p.m., Blu Stu plays at 6 p.m. and Jefferson County Green Band plays at 8 p.m. Events on the square continue Sunday with Collector Cars Unlimited hosting its 28th annual car show. Registration begins at 8 a.m., and the trophy presentation parade is set for 3:30 p.m.
