Apple Stanley Duo performing for Keokuk Concert Association
KEOKUK — The Keokuk Concert Association presents Apple Stanley Duo: flute and cello at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Grand Theater in Keokuk.
This concert is the third of the 2012-2013 series, and is partially underwritten by the generosity of Duane and Joyce Taylor.
Those holding Keokuk concert season memberships, as well season memberships in the cities of Pekin and Quincy, Ill., Hannibal, Mo., Fairfield and Washington, Iowa will be admitted free of charge.
Tickets also will be available at the theatre prior to the performance. Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for students.
A reception immediately following the concert will be hosted by the Apple family.
Edward Ortiz of the Sacramento Bee considers the group a “fresh presence and welcome addition to the Sacramento music scene,” Cathie Apple, a native of Warsaw, Ill., and Timothy Stanley are both founding members of the new music ensemble “Citywater” in Sacramento, Calif.; a contemporary chamber music ensemble.
Stanley is a professional cellist and music teacher. He plays with a number of orchestras, opera companies, chamber groups and baroque ensembles in the Sacramento area.
Apple earned her doctorate of music from the University of Michigan. She is a regular performer at the “Music at Noon” concert series. She also plays with the Sacramento Baroque soloists, Camerata Capistrano baroque ensemble, Celtic group Cahersiveen, Kirtan band Radiant Friend, and is the principal flutist with the Townsend Opera Players. She has collaborated with composers, such as Steve Mackey and Sunny Knable, and regularly performs on the Festival of New American Music in Sacramento.
The duo will be performing Celtic, baroque, as well as other styles of music.
