Aquatic center needs lifeguards
The Fairfield Aquatic Center is in need of lifeguards, according to aquatic director Christy Leazer.
The city of Fairfield employs many high school students and adults as lifeguards; however, many guards have other commitments this upcoming school year, leaving the aquatic center under-staffed. The Fairfield Park and Recreation Department will be training and hiring new guards to fill the vacancies.
Certified lifeguard trainers Leazer and Scott Slechta will offer a lifeguard course from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. August 6-8 at the aquatic center for those who are interested in becoming a lifeguard.
Through videos, group discussion and hands-on practice, participants will learn teamwork, rescue and surveillance skills, First Aid and CPR/AED and other skills necessary to work as a professional lifeguard.
Participants must be at least 16 years of age to be hired by the city of Fairfield as lifeguards.
