Arbor committee hosts panel on ash tree pest
The Fairfield Arbor Committee has organized another public education meeting regarding the emerald ash borer.
The committee’s next meeting is from 12:15-2 p.m. Thursday at the Fairfield Public Library meeting room. Three of the state’s leading EAB experts will speak about various aspects of properly managing EAB in accordance with state laws.
Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship State Entomologist Robin Pruisner will address general information about the emerald ash borer and moving infested wood within Iowa and outside the state. Mark Shour of Iowa State University Extension will talk about the treatment options available for managing EAB. IDOLS pesticide bureau chief Gretchen Paluch will discuss certification and complying with laws and regulations.
This event is free and open to the public, and everyone with questions or concerns about EAB is encouraged to attend.
