Art association hosting reception for artist Friday
The Fairfield Art Association will host a reception for watercolor artist Marybeth Heikes 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center’s Main Gallery.
The artist will be present during the reception to visit with exhibit viewers and talk about her series of reflective and colorful paintings of glassware.
Heikes, from Centerville, has been exhibited throughout the U.S. in numerous juried competitions. She has garnered many awards, especially for her series work “Chairs in the Jungle.” She is a Grumbacher Medalist and was a finalist in National New Talent Search Aquarious Gallery.
Some of Heikes’s career highlights include exhibiting in Soho New York, Rocky Mountain National Watermedia Show, San Diego International Exhibition, Recent Realism International Exhibition, Western Colorado, “Iowa Exhibited” and National Small Painting Exhibition.
Her work has been published in the watercolor issue of American Artist; The Artists’ Magazine; Iowa Woman; Sunshine Artist; and The Best of Sketching and Drawing. Her work is found in many private and public collections throughout the United States and Europe, including the collections of Pella’s Rolscreen, Musco Lighting, Motorola Corporation, Pine Rest Health Services and Broadlawns Medical Center.
Heikes has been drawing and painting all her life and considers herself self-taught with some workshops and college sprinkled throughout her career.
She is a member of Iowa Watercolor Society and Transparent Watercolor Society of America.
Heikes’s watercolor exhibit opened during the May Fairfield 1st Fridays Art Walk and will continue through the end of July in the convention center’s Main Gallery.
