Art association offers classes
Fairfield Art Association offers Art for Your Sake! an on-going class at the association’s studio in the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center.
Classes are from 2-4 p.m. two Fridays each month. Contact the Fairfield Art Association for more details by visiting the website www.fairfieldartassociation.org or stopping in the studio between 1-5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.
Art for Your Sake! is taught by Elaine Duncan, with the main objective to unleash a participant’s creative spirit.
No pre-learned skills or knowledge of art are required. A person who can hold a brush or pencil and be present to what is happening is qualified for the class.
Many people come to art classes to learn how to make a picture of an object, person or scene or learn to paint landscapes or draw portraits creating a picture to hang on the wall.
In Art for Your Sake! the picture a participant ends up with is not the main objective. The main objective is exploring his or her creative nature. Because of this, when class begins, no one knows what the picture will be when it is done. The finished picture is a surprise that comes out of the process.
The class works in a variety of media: pencils, paints, collage, found objects and mixed media. Projects are developed collectively and determined by collaboration between students and teacher.
