Author to speak at Iowa Wesleyan
MOUNT PLEASANT — Steven Farrelly-Jackson, associate professor of philosophy at Allegheny College, will present a program titled “Human Resiliency and Issues of Race” at 11 a.m. Thursday at Iowa Wesleyan College.
The program will be held in the Chapel Auditorium. It is open to the public.
Farrelly-Jackson grew up in the former Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe. He attended the University of Cape Town and earned his doctorate in philosophy at Oxford University.
His historical novel, “Out of the Valley,” is set in Africa and based on his own life experiences. It explores the themes of racial oppression and the resilience of the human spirit.
Farrelly-Jackson’s program is funded by the Haselmayer Endowment for the Arts.
