Batavia haunted house
The Batavia Days Committee opened its haunted house Friday and Saturday in what was the first of three weekends the public can visit the spooky site. It is the sixth year the Batavia Days Committee has hosted a haunted house, which raises money for Batavia Days and other functions. Some of the other recipients of funds this year are the Hillbilly Shrine Unit and the seventh- and eighth-grade Cardinal School students who are going to visit Washington, D.C. Tycene Weber, a member of the Batavia Days Committee, said 510 people visited the haunted house over the weekend. The haunted house will be open from 7-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday as well as the following Friday and Saturday, Nov. 1-2. Weber said they do not turn people away if they are in line at closing time. She said the committee members kept the haunted house open for almost two additional hours Saturday to accommodate all the visitors who wanted a shiver down their spine.
