The Birmingham firemen will have their fund-raising appreciation and awards fish and chicken-strip supper Saturday at the fire station.

The event begins at 5 p.m.

The annual meeting of the Birmingham Development Corporation will be at 7 p.m. April 18 at the Birmingham Library.

The officers are Eddie Spees, president; Verne Ramsey, vice president; Ann Boley, secretary; and Dennis Topping and Kathy Morris, directors.

The terms of Spees and Boley are ending, so two people will be elected. Anyone interested in serving on the board should contact one of the directors.

STOCKPORT

The Stockport Public Library board will meet at 2 p.m. April 17 at the library.

An Old-Tyme music jam is planned 1:30-4 p.m. April 21 in the Heritage Estates Community Room. Everyone is invited to bring instruments and play acoustical music or just come and enjoy the fellowship and the music. A free-will offering will be collected.

Organizer Wayne Keller said this will probably be the last music jam for awhile.

The American Legion Auxiliary of Stockport is sponsoring the April Shower for Veterans. Donations may be made through April 22. Collection boxes are at the State Central Bank in Stockport and Village Cafe.

Hospitalized veterans are in need of personal grooming items, such as: denture cleaner and adhesive, hair brushes and combs, nail clippers, toothbrushes, toothpaste, bath- sized soap and emery boards. Hospitalized veterans also are in need of stationary items, envelopes, stamps, pens, puzzles, new white T-shirts, new white socks, pre-paid phone cards, microwave popcorn, and paperback books.

Donated items will be delivered to the VA Hospital in Iowa City. Direct questions about the April Shower for Veterans to Gerri Lyon at 319-796-4427.
