Blood center schedules drive Jan. 30 in Keosauqua
Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center will be holding a blood drive from 3-7 p.m. Jan. 30 at the Keosauqua Senior Center.
Donors who last donated on or before Dec. 5 are eligible to donate.
To be eligible to donate, a donor must be at least 16 years old, be in good health, and weigh at least 110 pounds. A donor card or other photo identification is required, and 16-year-old donors must present a signed parental consent form each time they donate. Consent forms are available at www.bloodcenter.org.
The Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center mobile unit recently drew several pints of blood at area blood drives.
Thirteen pints of blood were drawn Jan. 3 at the Birmingham Lions Building in Birmingham.
Thirty-five pints of blood were collected Jan. 7 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Fairfield.
Forty-five pints of blood were drawn Jan. 8 at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds Activity Building.
According to blood center personnel, one pint of blood can help save the lives of up to three patients, and one out of every five people entering the hospital will need blood products.
A donor can give blood every eight weeks. Call the blood center 800-452-1097 to schedule an appointment.
