Blood drive event planned at M.U.M.
The Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center mobile unit drew several pints of blood at area blood drives recently.
Twenty-eight pints were drawn Feb. 18 and another 29 pints were drawn Feb. 25 at Fairfield First United Methodist Church. Fourteen pints were drawn Feb. 26 at the Batavia Community Center. Nineteen pints were drawn Feb. 28 at the Birmingham Lions Building, and 49 pints were drawn Wednesday at Pekin High School.
With the success of these drives comes the announcement of another blood drive in the area. Maharishi University of Management will sponsor a blood drive from 2-6 p.m. March 19 at its Agiro Student Center.

According to blood center officials, blood donation is a safe, simple procedure that takes about an hour to complete.
Donors must be at least 16 years old, be in good health, and weigh at least 110 pounds.
A blood donor card or other form of photo idntifiction is required to donate.
Sixteen-year-olds must present a signed parental consent form each time they donate. Consent forms are available at the web site www.bloodcenter.org.
