Blood drives in Fairfield, Batavia

Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center has six upcoming blood drives planned in Jefferson County.

Parkview Care Center will host a community blood drive from 9:30 a.m. to noon Thursday inside The Oaks lounge.

Donors who last gave blood on or before Jan. 12 are eligible to give at this drive.

First United Methodist Church will host a community blood drive from 2-6:30 p.m. March 13 in the church dining room.

Donors who last gave blood on or before Jan. 16 are eligible to give at this drive.

Jefferson County PM will host a community blood drive from 2- 7 p.m. March 14 at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds Activity Building.

Donors who last gave blood on or before Jan. 17 are eligible to give at this drive.

Batavia will host a community blood drive from 3:30-6:30 p.m. March 14 at the Batavia Community Senior Center.

Donors who last gave blood on or before Jan. 17 are eligible to give at this drive.

Fairfield Arts & Convention Center will host a community blood drive from 3-6 p.m. March 15 in its Smith meeting room.

Donors who last gave blood on or before Jan. 18 are eligible to give at this drive.

Maharishi University of Management will host a community blood drive from noon to 3:30 p.m. March 16 in the Argiro Student Center.

Donors who last gave blood on or before Jan. 19 are eligible to give at this drive.

Appointments to donate can be made with Sascha Kyssa at stuact@mum.edu or at www.bloodcenterimpact.org with code 5314 to locate the drive.

Potential blood donors must be at least 17 years of age, although a 16-year-old can donate with a completed parental permission form available at www.bloodcenter.org.

Donors must weigh more than 110 pounds. Individuals with diabetes or controlled high blood pressure can be accepted as eligible donors. A photo I.D. is required to donate.

According to blood center personnel, blood donation is a safe, simple procedure that takes about 45 minutes to one hour.

Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center is the provider of blood and blood components to more than 90 hospitals, including Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.
