Blood drives scheduled; results listed

The Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center has scheduled four local blood drives.

The first will be from 2:30-6:30 p.m. April 15 at the St. Mary Roman Catholic Church Parish Hall. For appointments, contact Marianne McGregor at 469-3241. To be eligible to donate, donors must have donated last on or before Feb. 18.

The second drive will be from 3:30-7:30 p.m. April 16 at the Lockridge Senior Center. For appointments, contact Sonja Graber at 319-696-3686. To be eligible to donate, donors must have donated last on or before Feb. 19.

The third drive will be from 2:30-7:30 p.m. April 23 at the Prairie View Church near Ollie. For appointments, contact the blood center at 800-452-1097. To be eligible to donate, donors must have donated last on or before Feb. 26.

The fourth blood drive is scheduled for 3-7 p.m. April 23 at the Batavia Senior Citizen Community Center. For appointments, call the blood center at 800-452-1097. To be eligible to donate, donors must have donated last on or before Feb. 26.

For eligibility in all blood drives, donors must be at least 16 years old, be in good health, and weigh 110 pounds. A blood donor card or other form of ID must be present in order to donate. Sixteen-year-olds must present a signed parental consent form each time they donate. Consent forms and other information is available on the blood center’s website, www.bloodcenter.org.

The Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center mobile drew 39 pints of blood at two recent blood drives.

Twelve pints were collected March 19 at Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, and 27 more were collected March 28 at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds Activity Building.
