Boys, girls basketball camps planned
The Fairfield Park and Recreation Department is planning both a boys’ and a girls’ Trojan Winter Blast basketball camp Friday and Dec. 30 in the Fairfield High School gymnasium.
The boys’ camp is for boys entering third- through eighth-grades. It will be held 9-11 a.m. The director will be FHS varsity basketball coach Tyler Miklo. Assistants will be junior varsity coach Glenn Perkins and freshman coach Jordan Sathoff. All members of the Trojan varsity and junior varsity basketball teams will be present and working with the campers.
The girls’ camp is for girls in fourth- through eighth-grade. It will be 1-3 p.m. The director will be FHS varsity basketball coach Mick Flattery. Assistants will be junior varsity coach Brian Witzenberg and freshman coach Jerod Belzer. All members of the Trojan varsity and junior varsity basketball teams will be present and working with the campers.
Both the boys’ and the girls’ camp will place a strong emphasis on fundamental basketball skills. Activities will include drills, competition and individual skills development. Campers will have fun while learning skills to help each person play to the best of his or her ability. Organizers say the camps are a great opportunity work individually with the varsity and junior varsity players.
All campers will receive a Winter Blast T-shirt.
Registration is $25. Registration is $15 for Trojan Kids Club members.
