BUENA VISTA UNIVERSITY
STORM LAKE — Two area students were named to the Buena Vista University Graduate & Professional Studies Dean’s List.
Seth Adam from Brighton and Amanda Weir from Eldon earned recognition on the list.
Adam and Weir are associated with the cooperative program through the Buena Vista University Graduate & Professional Studies location in Ottumwa.
PELLA — The following students were named to the spring 2013 Central College Dean’s List:
Mycaela Crouse of Hedrick, majoring in biology, is the daughter of Steven and Jacquelyn Crouse;
Torie Hollingsworth of Hedrick, majoring in business management, is the daughter of Gary and Debbie Hollingsworth;
Amanda Melcher of Libertyville, majoring in elementary education, is the daughter of Randy and Pam Melcher;
Macy Wright of Brighton, majoring in elementary education, is the daughter of Craig and Lynn Wright;
Elizabeth Nichols of Eldon is the daughter of Thomas and Kim Nichols; and
Ty Smith of Cantril is the son of Raymond and Dynnette Smith.
The honor is awarded to full-time students who achieve a 3.5 grade point average or higher on a 4.0 scale while taking 12 or more graded credit hours for the semester.
Two area students were named Central College S.O.S. orientation leaders for the 2013-14 school year.:
Heath Jackson, a native of Fairfield, a junior at Central; and
Todd Clubb, a native of Richland, a sophomore at Central.
S.O.S. members are Central’s orientation leaders. S.O.S. leaders are student ambassadors for the college, aiding incoming students and their family’s transition into the Central community. They provide insight into academic and campus life, expose new students to Central traditions and share the ethos of the college.
S.O.S. leaders are selected through an interview process where they partake in individual and group assessments where they are critiqued on their verbal communication, attention to detail, innovation, solution orientation and teamwork.

AMES — Several area students earned academic degrees at Iowa State University’s spring commencement ceremonies May 10.
Emily Elizabeth Gleason, bachelor of science, biology, summa cum laude;
Kyle Molyneaux McMahon, bachelor of landscape architecture, landscape architecture;
Mark Andrew Pettit, bachelor of science, supply chain management;
Whitney Lynne Taglauer, bachelor of science, agricultural business, and bachelor of science, animal science.
Kelly Dean Graham, agricultural systems technology, and bachelor of science, industrial technology.
Breanna Pauline Estle, bachelor of science, animal science, cum laude and honors program.
TRUMAN STATE UNIVERSITY
KIRKSVILLE, Mo. — Tori Jo Ogden of Fairfield is listed on the Truman State University Spring 2013 President’s List.
To qualify, an undergraduate student must attain a semester 4.0 grade point average and must complete 12 semester hours of credit.
Ogden is studying athletic training.
FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Susan Daniels, a resident of Fairfield, received a master of fine arts degree from Fairfield University’s Arts & Science/University College at the 63rd commencement ceremonies May 19.
