Cardinal boys win track meetCardinal girls win shuttle hurdle
The Cardinal High School track teams ran at Mt. Pleasant High School Tuesday.
The Cardinal boys finished in first place with 148 points. Winfield-Mount Union was a distant second place with 115 points.
Charlie Rachford led the way with a trio of victories in the long jump, 200-meter dash and the 110-meter high hurdles. The Comets dominated the field events, with Josh Ramos (discus), Sam Pederson (high jump) and Connor McElderry (shot put) each finishing in first place.
The shuttle hurdle team featuring Pederson, Rachford, Tyler Albert and Justin Conger finished second place. Albert also earned runner-up in the 400-meter dash.
The Cardinal girls team yet again won the shuttle hurdle competition. Lexi Fullenkamp, Ryley Liles, Sarah Schmidt and Alexis Adam also won the shuttle hurdle Monday night in Van Buren.
The 4x100 relay team, comprised of Fullenkamp, Schmidt, Adam and Jessie McElderry finished in third place. The 4x400 relay team, composed of Liles, Fullenkamp, Adam and Paige Evans, also earned a third place finish.
