Cardinal crowns homecoming king, queen
ELDON — The Cardinal Comets have been celebrating homecoming events this week, culminating in a Friday afternoon parade, Friday’s football game with West Burlington and a Homecoming dance Saturday at school.
Seniors Brandon Eklofe and Leea Ostrander were crowned homecoming king and queen Wednesday evening, and Mike Owings and Schylar Conger are homecoming prince and princess.
A jersey auction was held in conjunction with coronation ceremonies Wednesday, followed by a powder puff game.
This year’s Homecoming Parade begins at 2 p.m. Friday in Batavia.
Cardinal students have been dressing up all week. Monday was Neon Day and students from elementary through high school — and staff — wore bright, neon colors.
Tuesday was Twin Day and anyone could be twins by matching hairstyles or items of clothing. Wednesday was a professional development day for teachers, with no students at school.
Today is ‘Merica Day and Friday is Spirit Day.
Freshmen serving on Homecoming Court are Trevor Albert, Bryce Benedict, Trenton Durflinger, Riley Liles, Autumn Deshler and Kaylie Blunt.
Sophomores on Homecoming Court are Justin Conger, Colton Carter, Asa Houston, Dakota Miller, Lexi Fullenkamp, Dakota Durflinger and Lexi Engle (Houston and Miller tied for third).
Juniors on Homecoming Court are Logan Rachford, Nathan Yeager, Kaleb Durflinger, Alexis Adam, Danae Moses and Ashley Hart.
Seniors on Homecoming Court include Eklofe, Owings, Cole Campbell, Conger, Alissa Sloan and Ostrander.
Cardinal High School Class of 1983 is the special guest this year, recognizing 30 years since graduation.
