Cardinal defeats Van Buren in softball
A make-up game Wednesday in Keosauqua belonged to the Cardinal Comets softball team, as they went on to win 12-0 over Van Buren.
Cardinal’s Lindsey Davis went 2-3 at the plate with a double, two runs scored and three RBIs. Danae Moses and Jessie McElderry both scored three runs. Alexis Adam and Kaylie Blunt both drove in two runs.
Taylor Murguia, Hallie Whitten and Alicia Fitzsimmons each had a hit for the Warriors. Murguia pitched all six innings, and even though 12 runs crossed the plate, only three of those runs were earned. She also struck out eight Comets.
Van Buren (4-12) will play Friday at Wapello before playing in the Pekin Tournament Saturday. Cardinal (13-8) plays tonight at Central Lee.
