Celebrate holidays responsibly, safely
To the editor:
As the Christmas Holiday approaches and the year comes to a close it is a time of thanksgiving, celebration and life long memory making. Very soon kitchens will produce arguably the best food of the year made better by family and friends. Along with the festivities, adult and teen alcohol consumption increases and so does responsibility.
Parents know there are seemingly endless dangers to kids that cause worry and sleepless nights. If you have ever found yourself in a late night search for your kids, you know the feeling of helplessness and fear from the unknown. Families who should be enjoying the best times are confronted with a careless act of irresponsible drinking as we witnessed with the recent death of a Dallas Cowboys Football player.
The Jefferson County Alcohol Consumption Task Force, (ACT) reminds the community “responsibility begins at home”. Parents are the number one reason why teens make good choices, especially within families that communicate, establish expectations and enforce the consequences.
