I would like to take this time to thank everyone we had the opportunity to care for this year. Regardless whether it was a minor scrape or major surgery, we are glad you choose us as your healthcare provider. Everything we do, every single day, centers on providing our patients with the very best healthcare possible. I am very proud of our dedicated employees and the health care providers who serve this community.
2013 was a very successful year for JCHC. A new surgeon, new visiting specialists and a new family practice provider have joined our community.
We expanded our medical campus this year to provide additional space for existing and new healthcare providers in town. In addition, we completed the Jefferson County Health Center Wellness Trail that circles the health center and connects to the Jefferson County Loop Trail.
It was a tremendous honor to be named by the Des Moines Register as one of the top 100 workplaces to work in Iowa, based on employees’ evaluations of their workplaces. Additionally, we were all so proud when Bob Keller was named Trustee of the Year by the Iowa Hospital Association. Most recently, we were notified by the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health that JCHC received recognition from iVantage for placing in the top quartile nationally for “Excellence in Patient Satisfaction.”
The Leadership Team, the Board of Trustees and our local physicians met recently to discuss the future direction of JCHC. We revised our strategic plan for 2014 through 2016 and realigned our commitment to bring to the communities we serve not only high quality healthcare, but increased emphasis on community wellness and health promotion activities, as well. I want to thank the community members who assisted us in this process by responding to our recent survey and to those who attended our advisory group meetings throughout the year.
Based on your survey responses and the goals we have set forth for JCHC over the next three years, we have decided to revise our Mission and Vision statement for better alignment with our direction. Our new mission statement is “to optimize the health and wellbeing of the people and communities we serve by providing safe, high quality, compassionate services.” Our new Vision statement is “our patients, employees, physicians, and community are fully engaged.”

I wish all of you a happy and healthy 2014!
