‘Christmas in Eldon’ begins Friday
ELDON — The annual “Christmas in Eldon” community event Friday through Sunday will provide visitors with a wealth of holiday opportunities, including the Christmas Tree Wonderland, a visit to the Rock Island Depot Museum, a Christmas dinner, “gingerbread” house decorating and, of course, a visit from Santa.
The McHaffey Opera House hosts the annual Christmas Tree Wonderland with more than 100 trees decorated by community organizations and individuals. The Wonderland will be available for viewing from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
The Rock Island Depot Museum will open its doors for the weekend as well. The depot will be open from 1-4 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Join Gothic Area Tourism of Eldon for a traditional Christmas dinner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the KD Center The freewill donation supports G.A.T.E. as it, in turn, supports the community of Eldon.
Santa will make his appearance at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the Eldon American Legion.
Children will be able to decorate their very own graham cracker “gingerbread” house between 1-4 p.m. Saturday at the American Gothic House Center. Hot cider and cookies will be served.
Saturday will wrap up with the Boy Scout soup supper from 5-7 p.m. at the KD Center.
