Churches planning vacation Bible school, help for Lord’s Cupboard
First United Methodist Church, First Presbyterian Church and First Lutheran Church are inviting preschoolers through fifth graders to vacation Bible school July 8-12.
Vacation Bible school will be held 4-6:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church.
The organizers are inviting participants to “come to Athens this summer and become part of Paul’s dangerous journey to share the truth. You’ll travel back into Bible times — without setting foot outside the community.”
Each day, participants can become part of history as they see, hear, touch and even taste what it was like to live in ancient Athens. They will explore the Marketplace shops, visit Paul, take part in games, dance to Bible songs and sample tasty tidbits as they discover more about Paul’s missionary adventures. To register for the Bible adventure, visit www.groupvbspro.com/vbs/hl/umcfairfield.
The fee is $5 per child, with a $10 maximum per household. Participants are asked to register by July 1, but registration also will be taken at the door.
Organizers also are asking participants to help the Jefferson County Lord’s Cupboard by bringing a nonperishable food item for the L.O.A.F. program. The cupboard is seeking cereal, macaroni and cheese, peanut butter and toilet tissue.
