In the Fairfield Police log published in the Oct. 9 Ledger, it was reported Jennifer Jones wrote two bad checks at Hy-Vee gas station. Fairfield Police Capt. Dave Thomas said Jones was not charged with the crime of writing bad checks, but that is what a Hy-Vee manager reported to the dispatch and what is written in the police log viewed by media. Jones had charges of shoplifting and criminal trespass at Hy-Vee earlier this month.
A charge is merely an accusation; those charged are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
