Clover Kids; American Legion Auxiliary; VFW Auxiliary
The Jefferson County Fairfield 4-H Clover Kids met 5:15-6:15 p.m. Thursday in the Jefferson County Fairgrounds Activity Building.
The meeting was started by practicing the 4-H pledge. Several different leaves were brought in for a leaf rubbing project.
The 14 members and one guest present participated in a “get to know you” activity. They talked about their favorite things at the fair. Courtney Taglauer, county youth coordinator, helped parents complete new registrations for the 2013-2014 year.
Members had root beer floats to conclude the meeting.
Helping with the evening activities were Eileen Pickard, Heather Pickard, Sophia Mineart, Karen Crossland, Courtney Taglauer, Jason Steele and Kaitlyn Post.
Clover Kids are invited to ride the 4-H float Saturday during the Kiwanis Kids Day parade. For information, call the Jefferson County ISU Extension Office at 472-4166.
The next meeting will be Oct. 10 at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds Activity Building.

AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY
The American Legion Auxiliary No. 47 will meet in regular session at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the VFW Hall.
The 2013 Girls State representative is expected to be present to share her experiences at Girls State. Other necessary business also will be on the agenda.

The Ladies Auxiliary to Dimmitt-Vorhies Post 2271 met Sept. 9 at the post home, with nine members present.
Poppy Days will be Friday and Saturday. All help will be appreciated.
All auxiliary sisters were encouraged to send their dues to the Fairfield VFW.
A moment of silence was held to memorialize the 9/11 Patriot’s Day.
Donations were sent to the red, white and blue program. The money will be used to fund youth activities, patriotic art and voice of democracy.
“I Love America” essay rules will be distributed to local schools. Recognition of winners will be in March.
The auxiliary will be hosing the district president at the next meeting set for Oct. 14. The district president will be inspecting the auxiliary. Pizza will be served at 5:30 p.m.
