Clutch free throws lift JV Trojans
EDDYVILLE — Mackenzie McClure and Taylor Ferrel both hit clutch free throws down the stretch Thursday to send the Fairfield JV girls to a 53-48 overtime win at Eddyville-Blakesburg.
McClure scored a team-high 10 points and Ferrel had six points with five boards. Other leading scorers included Karley Williams with nine points and nine rebounds, and Mackenzie Flattery scoring nine.
Also for Fairfield, Delaney Neil contributed seven points, Madison Roberts had six points and five rebounds, and Molly Ryan and Siera Drish scored three points apiece.
The Trojans travel to take on Mount Pleasant today.
Boys win, too
Alex Simpson scored 18 points and Cody Craff netted 12 points on 5 of 7 shooting to lead the Fairfield JV boys’ basketball team to a 68-29 rout of Eddyville-Blakesburg on Tuesday.
The win was also the Trojans’ most balanced game to date. In addition to the 30 points scored by Simpson and Craff, freshman Jordan Reid scored 11 points with three steals, and Landen Greiner totaled 10 points to go with eight rebounds and five assists.
Trevor Drish had seven points and dished out five dimes, while Keith Burns chipped in three assists and three steals for Fairfield.
Fairfield continues its homestand today against Mount Pleasant.
