“Take Me Home — the Music of John Denver” will be presented by Jim Curry at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Sondheim center.
Carlos Mencia is undoubtedly one of today’s most popular entertainers and comics. Whether it is man-on-the-street interviews, studio comedy, commercial parodies, nationwide sold-out tours or films, Mencia demonstrates an extraordinary ability to connect with a wide and diverse audience.
As the host of Comedy Central’s hit show, “Mind of Mencia,” he mercilessly skewers the current and the cultural topics, whether in the studio or out on the street.
Be advised, the show contains adult language and situations.
The music of the late John Denver is like an old friend, outlasting trends and standing the test of time. What began as a singing role in a CBS television movie, “Take Me Home, the John Denver Story,” Jim Curry was inspired to produce a full-length John Denver concert. He sings, in his own voice, a tribute to the music. His looks and his voice are simply a coincidence that captures the essence of John Denver’s music. Curry’s heartfelt delivery rolls into the crowd as multi-platinum hits like “Rocky Mountain High,” “Sunshine,” “Annie’s Song” and “Calypso” fill the room.
Tickets to the shows are available at the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center Ticket Office, by calling 472-2787 or visiting the website www.fairfieldacc.com.
