Congregate Meals: April 14-18, 2014
The Fairfield Senior Citizen Center has listed its menu for the coming week.
Meals are served at 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday at the Fairfield senior center and at noon Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Lockridge senior center.
Lent will be observed through April 18. Fish will be offered as an alternative each Friday. When making reservations, let the center know if fish is requested.
Monday — glazed pork chop, baked fresh sweet potato, mixed vegetables, banana pudding.
Tuesday — chicken salad sandwich with lettuce and tomato slice, potato salad, Kale Red Onion Salad with Italian dressing, cantaloupe, oatmeal raisin cookie.
Wednesday — pot roast, boiled potatoes, sauteed onions, baby carrots, strawberries, sherbet cup.
Thursday — spaghetti with meat sauce, broccoli and cauliflower, spinach salad with Italian dressing, red banana gelatin.
April 18 — closed for Good Friday; no meals served.
Milk, whole-wheat and whole-grain bread or muffins and margarine are offered with all meals.
The menu provides a general balanced diet that meets the RDA’s/RIA’s for adults.
Frozen or shelf-stable meals are available for evenings, weekends and holidays.
Meals are offered on a contribution basis. For a person 60 years old or older and his or her spouse of any age, the suggested contribution is $3.50. The suggested contribution a home-delivered meal is $4.
An individual younger than 60 must pay the full cost of the meal; the cost is posted at the meal site.
Reservations for meals at the Fairfield senior center must be made one day in advance either at the center or by calling 472-4403.
