Congregate Meals: April 21-25, 2014
The Fairfield Senior Citizen Center has listed its menu for the coming week.
Meals are served at 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday at the Fairfield senior center and at noon Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Lockridge senior center.
Monday — beef macaroni casserole, peas, spinach and mandarin orange salad with Italian dressing, banana.
Tuesday — Italian chicken wrap, potato salad, tomato and cucumber salad, fresh melon, chocolate pudding.
Wednesday — loose-meat burger on wheat hamburger bun, tomato slices, oven-roasted baby potato, kidney bean salad, vanilla pudding with pineapple.
Thursday — roast pork, mashed potatoes, gravy, spinach, strawberry banana gelatin.
April 25 — Swedish meatballs, noodles, broccoli, plums, Waldorf salad.
Milk, whole-wheat and whole-grain bread or muffins and margarine are offered with all meals.
The menu provides a general balanced diet that meets the RDA’s/RIA’s for adults.
Frozen or shelf-stable meals are available for evenings, weekends and holidays.
Meals are offered on a contribution basis. For a person 60 years old or older and his or her spouse of any age, the suggested contribution is $3.50. The suggested contribution a home-delivered meal is $4.
An individual younger than 60 must pay the full cost of the meal; the cost is posted at the meal site.
