Congregate Meals: Jan. 21-25, 2013

The Fairfield Senior Citizen Center has listed its menu for the coming week.

Meals are served at 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday at the Fairfield senior center and at noon Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Lockridge senior center.

Monday — Martin Luther King Jr. Day. All meal sites will be closed. For more information, contact the local senior center for options

Tuesday — pork cutlets, sweet potatoes, peas, mandarin oranges, tomato juice.

Wednesday — chicken, baked potato, sour cream, brussel sprouts with cheese preach cup.

Thursday — beef stew, whole grain biscuit, tossed lettuce salad, assorted dressing, sliced strawberries, crispy rice bar.

Jan. 25 — hot turkey sandwich, mashed potatoes, gravy, creamed spinach, applesauce.

Milk, whole-wheat and whole-grain bread/muffins, and margarine are offered with all meals. The menu provides a general balanced diet that meets the RDA’s/RIA’s for adults.

Meals are offered on a contribution basis for persons 60 years of age and older and their spouses of any age. Full cost of meals is: congregate, $5.87; carryout, $6.35; home delivered, $7.73.

Reservations for meals at the Fairfield senior center must be made one day in advance either at the center or by calling 472-4403.

Bingo is played from 12:15-1:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, and the Ed Bruegge Band plays at noon the first Wednesday of every month in Fairfield.
