Congregate Meals: Jan. 27-31, 2014
The Fairfield Senior Citizen Center has listed its menu for the coming week.
Meals are served at 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday at the Fairfield senior center and at noon Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Lockridge senior center.
Monday — hamburger on wheat hamburger bun, with sliced lettuce, tomato and onion, potato wedge, spinach-strawberry salad, ambrosia salad, banana bar.
Tuesday — glazed ham ball, baked potato with sour cream, steamed cabbage, rosy applesauce.
Wednesday — roast beef, mashed potatoes, gravy, spinach with vinegar, Orange Whip.
Thursday — meatloaf, scalloped potatoes, sliced carrots, red fruited gelatin, orange juice.
Jan. 31 — chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, broccoli, strawberry and banana, chocolate chip bar.
Milk, whole-wheat and whole-grain bread or muffins and margarine are offered with all meals.
The menu provides a general balanced diet that meets the RDA’s/RIA’s for adults.
Frozen or shelf-stable meals are available for evenings, weekends and holidays.
Meals are offered on a contribution basis. For a person 60 years old or older and his or her spouse of any age, the suggested contribution is $3.50. The suggested contribution a home-delivered meal is $4.
An individual younger than 60 must pay the full cost of the meal; the cost is posted at the meal site.
Reservations for meals at the Fairfield senior center must be made one day in advance either at the center or by calling 472-4403.Bingo is played from 12:15-1:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday.
