Congregate Meals: March 11-15, 2013
The Fairfield Senior Citizen Center has listed its menu for the coming week.
Meals are served at 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday at the Fairfield senior center and at noon Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Lockridge senior center.
Lent is being observed through March 29. Fish will be offered each Friday until March 29 as an alternative to the main entree. Notify the meal site if fish is preferred when making reservations.
Monday — Chicken and noodles, mashed potato. broccoli with cheese sauce, applesauce, and a chocolate chip bar.
Tuesday— Baked ham, baked potato with sour cream, steamed cabbage, and rosy pears.
Wednesday — Roast beef, mashed potatoes with gravy, spinach with vinegar, and cinnamon apples.
Thursday — Meat loaf, scalloped potatoes, sliced carrots, fruited gelatin, and orange juice.
March 15 — potato chowder, saltine crackers, hamburger on whole wheat bun, lettuce, tomato, onion slice, ambrosia salad, sweet potato custard, and a St. Patrick cupcake.
Milk, whole-wheat and whole-grain bread/muffins, and margarine are offered with all meals. The menu provides a general balanced diet that meets the RDA’s/RIA’s for adults.
Meals are offered on a contribution basis for persons 60 years of age and older and their spouses of any age. Full cost of meals is: congregate, $5.87; carryout, $6.35; home delivered, $7.73.
