Congregate Meals: March 3-7, 2014Fish will be offered as an alternative on Ash Wednesday and Fridays during Lent
The Fairfield Senior Citizen Center has listed its menu for the coming week.
Meals are served at 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday at the Fairfield senior center and at noon Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Lockridge senior center.
Lent will be observed Wednesday through April 18. Fish will be offered as an alternative Wednesday and each Friday. When making reservations, let the center know if fish is requested.
Monday — spaghetti and meat sauce, green beans, layered lettuce salad, diced pears, orange juice.
Tuesday — pork cutlets, sweet potatoes, peas, ambrosia salad, vegetable juice.
Wednesday — baked chicken, baked potato with sour cream, Brussels sprouts with cheese, banana and peach cup.
Thursday — beef stew, whole-grain biscuit, tossed lettuce salad with balsamic vinaigrette, strawberry gelatin with strawberries, crispy rice bar.
March 7 — roasted turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, broccoli-cauliflower-raisin salad, plums.
Milk, whole-wheat and whole-grain bread or muffins and margarine are offered with all meals.
The menu provides a general balanced diet that meets the RDA’s/RIA’s for adults.
Frozen or shelf-stable meals are available for evenings, weekends and holidays.
Meals are offered on a contribution basis. For a person 60 years old or older and his or her spouse of any age, the suggested contribution is $3.50. The suggested contribution a home-delivered meal is $4.
An individual younger than 60 must pay the full cost of the meal; the cost is posted at the meal site.
Reservations for meals at the Fairfield senior center must be made one day in advance either at the center or by calling 472-4403.
