Congregate meals set in Fairfield, Lockridge

Fairfield Senior Citizen Center has listed its congregate meals menu for the coming week.

Meals are served at 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday at the Fairfield Senior Citizen Center, and, since the return of nice weather, at noon Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Lockridge Senior Center.

Reservations must be made one day in advance.

Reservations at the Fairfield site can be made at the senior center or by calling 472-4403.

For reservations at the Lockridge site, call 319-696-2086.

The menu for next week is:

Monday — creamed turkey, mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, blushing diced pears.

Tuesday — Salisbury steak with gravy, O’Brien potatoes, broccoli cuts, Dixie coleslaw, Strawberry Surprise.

Wednesday — baked chicken, parsley boiled new potatoes, green beans almondine, mandarin oranges, banana bread.

Thursday — roast pork loin, candied sweet potatoes, steamed cabbage, banana, oatmeal-raisin cookie.

May 19 — cheesy potato-crusted fish fillet, oven-roasted red potatoes, creamed asparagus, pineapple and mandarin oranges.

Each meal includes a wheat dinner roll or bread, unless another bread item is noted, margarine and skim milk.

For people 60 years of age and older and their spouse of any age, there is a suggested contribution.

Individuals younger than 60 pay the full meal charge as posted at the meal site.

Check at the Fairfield senior center for meal options, such as shelf-stable meals or frozen meals, to take home and use on days when no meal is served at the center, such as on Memorial Day May 29.

Bingo is scheduled to be played from 12:15-1:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday at the Fairfield senior center.
