Congregate Meals: Sept. 30-Oct. 4, 2013
The Fairfield Senior Citizen Center has listed its menu for the coming week.
Meals are served at 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday at the Fairfield senior center and at noon Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Lockridge senior center.
Monday — spaghetti and meat sauce, broccoli and cauliflower, spinach salad with vinegar and oil dressing, fruit cocktail.
Tuesday — ham and beans, Tomato Spoon Salad, corn bread, cottage cheese, tropical fruit.
Wednesday — baked chicken, sour cream mashed potatoes, gravy, brussel sprouts, strawberries.
Thursday — potato crusted fish fillet, baked potato with sour cream, creamed peas, fresh fruit.
Oct. 4 — beef tips in gravy, mashed potatoes, broccoli, mandarin oranges, banana pudding.
Milk, whole-wheat and whole-grain bread or muffins and margarine are offered with all meals.
The menu provides a general balanced diet that meets the RDA’s/RIA’s for adults.
Frozen or shelf-stable meals are available for evenings, weekends and holidays.
Meals are offered on a contribution basis. For a person 60 years old or older and his or her spouse of any age, the suggested contribution is $3.50. The suggested contributions are: $3.75 for a carryout meal and $4 for a home-delivered meal.
An individual younger than 60 must pay the full cost of the meal; the cost is posted at the meal site.
Reservations for meals at the Fairfield senior center must be made one day in advance either at the center or by calling 472-4403.

Bingo is played from 12:15-1:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, and the Ed Bruegge Band plays at noon the first Wednesday of every month in Fairfield.
