Convention center to host wild animalsExotic animals, magic, education, all part of theatrical production
The Wild Animal Adventure will be unleashed at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22 at the Stephen Sondheim Center for the Performing Arts in the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center.
The show promises to bring educational entertainment to life for the whole family. Wild Animal Adventure combines entertainment and education through an interactive, theatrical production, complete with live exotic animals, audience participation and magic, as well as live animal encounters before and after the show.
Spend an evening with a saltwater crocodile, a baby kangaroo or even an 8-foot boa constrictor when Wild Animal Adventure comes to the Sondheim Center.
The Wild Animal Adventure stage show educates the community on animals from around the world and how it is our responsibility to protect these amazing creatures. Wild Animal Adventure is hosted by Barry DeVoll, who showcases these amazing animal friends during the presentation bringing tangible proof that these animals do exist beyond a textbook and the Internet and that we can learn from their playful spirits. The show also educates families on how we can all do our part to conserve and protect the homes of the relatives of these live animal co-stars.
Before the show, families can experience the pre-show adventure in the convention center’s atrium, seeing a select group of animals up close, while learning more about the animals and how to protect them through specially designed crafts and activities. The one hour pre-show adventure is provided free to ticket holders and starts at 6 p.m.
DeVoll, a native of Cedar Falls, tours the country spreading his passion about animals and inspiring others to pursue their passions. DeVoll’s organization includes Bixby and Friends at Adventureland in Des Moines.
“My third grade teacher allowed us to build the rainforest in the classroom. We brought the curriculum to life, and through that inspiration I decided I wanted to work with animals,” said DeVoll. “This adventure is about reaching as many people as possible as we can to educate and advocate for the animals.”
Tickets for Wild Animal Adventure are $10 for kids and $18 for adults and are available at the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center Ticket Office, 641-472-2787 or online at www.FairfieldACC.com.
