Convention center to recognize volunteers
The Fairfield Arts & Convention Center Board of Directors and staff will recognize its volunteers at a public appreciation event at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Stephen Sondheim Center for the Performing Arts.
The appreciation event will include presentation of the Volunteer of the Year, Don Hoelting 2012 Volunteer of Year and a year-in-review of the center. The jazz quintet, To Few Degrees, featuring Gerry Runyon, David Johnson, Adam Krieger and Jason Edward and Jim DePriest will provide music.
Fairfield Arts & Convention Center Ticket Office manager and volunteer coordinator Sasha Luse will recognize selected volunteers with certificates and provide an overview of volunteer opportunities at the center.
“The volunteers are vital to the success of the center,” said Rustin Lippincott, the center’s executive director. “This is an opportunity for us to acknowledge the individuals who dedicate their time, talents and energy to make the center such an amazing community asset.”
Light desserts and refreshments provided by Yummy’s Gourmet Cakes will be served in the atrium following the program. Harpist Ella Yates will provide music during the reception.
The Fairfield Arts & Convention Center appreciates the 183 volunteers who have given nearly 2,800 hours to the center. The volunteer service is worth nearly $45,000 to the center, according to the Corporation for National and Community Service.
