The following court cases were processed at Jefferson County Clerk of Court:

 

Associate District Court

Larry Wayne Money, 29, of 507 N. Main St., Apt. 2, pleaded guilty to operating a motor vehicle while barred, habitual offender, an aggravated misdemeanor. He was sentenced to two years in prison less credit for time spent in jail; his sentence was suspended and he was placed on two years probation, fined $625 plus a 35 percent surcharge and ordered to pay court costs and court appointed attorney fees if any.

Michael Dwayne Hannah, 43, of Eldon, received a deferred judgement for a guilty plea of possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, marijuana, first offences, a serious misdemeanor. He was placed on two years probation, fined $315, plus a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge. He was ordered to get a substance abuse evaluation and follow its recommendations and to pay court costs and court appointed attorney fees, if any.

Michael Dean Cook, 34, of 200 N. Fourth St., Apt 3, pleaded guilty to public intoxication, second offense, a serious misdemeanor. He was sentenced to 90 days in jail, which was suspended. He was placed on two years probation, fined $315, plus the costs of prosecution and a 35 percent surcharge. He was ordered to get a substance abuse evaluation at his cost, within three days and follow its recommendations.

Cynthia Louise Meade, 48, of Bonaparte, pleaded guilty to operating while intoxicated, third offense, a Class D felony. She was sentenced to five years in prison, less credit for time in jail; all but 30 days was suspended. She was placed on three years probation and must report to the Department of Corrections within seven days. She must serve 30 days in Jefferson County jail and successfully complete a 30-day inpatient substance abuse treatment program at Iowa Residential Treatment Center, Mount Pleasant. If successfully completed, the treatment time may be credited against jail service time. Her license was revoked for six years. If she becomes eligible for a temporary restricted license and seeks a license, an approved ignition interlock device must be installed on all owned vehicles. She was ordered to successfully complete a drinking drivers course, complete a substance abuse evaluation within 45 days, was fined $3,125 plus a 35 percent surcharge and ordered to pay a $10 DARE surcharge, court costs and court appointed attorney fees if any.

Michael Alan Bovard, 29, of 2173 125th St., pleaded guilty to operating while intoxicated, first offense, a serious misdemeanor. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail, less credit for time served; all but two days was suspended. He was placed on two years probation, his driver’s license was revoked, he was ordered to successfully complete a drinking drivers course within 45 days, complete a substance abuse evaluation within 45 days and follow its recommendations. He was fined $1,250 plus a 35 percent surcharge, and ordered to pay a $10 DARE surcharge, court costs and court appointed attorney fees if any.

Carter William Shepard, 25, of Agency, pleaded guilty to eluding, an aggravated misdemeanor, reckless driving, a simple misdemeanor, and exceeding the posted speed limit. He was sentenced to 60 days in jail, less credit for time served. He was fined $65 plus a 35 percent surcharge, another fine of $275 plus a $96 surcharge, a county enforcement charge of $5, court costs of $60 and ordered to pay court appointed attorney fees if any.
