Crawford Kerr to moderate panel
LOS ANGELES — Karla Crawford Kerr, director of business development and corporate relations for Fairfield-headquartered Hawthorne Direct, will serve as moderator for a panel entitled “Direct Response 101.”
The event will take place Sept. 24 during the Electronic Retailing Association’s annual Direct-to-Consumer Convention in Las Vegas. The panel will be held from 8:30-10 a.m. at the Wynn Las Vegas Hotel.
Joining Crawford Kerr for the session will be panelists:
• Ron Steblea, president, Rutledge & Bapst;
• Michael Montgomery, vice president of business development, Mercury Media;
• Kristy Pinand-Dumpert, vice president of sales and marketing, Concepts TV Productions;

The “Direct Response 101” session is described as: “Get to know the basics of direct response from the experts. This is a must-attend session for anyone who wishes to bring their product to the masses through direct response marketing. Topics addressed will include: long-form vs. short-form commercials; specialized websites; how to bring a product to retail; paid media or PI; utilizing an IVR or live operator; meeting ROI, and more. The answers to these questions will be discussed and revealed during a 90-minute session sure to inform, entertain and inspire. Following the seminar a half hour of networking with the speakers will be offered to attendees.”

Metcalf bank’s new lending officer
Karl Metcalf has joined the lending staff of Iowa State Bank & Trust Company.
Metcalf was born and raised in the Fairfield community and graduated from Fairfield High School in 1999. He participated in track and cross country during his high school career. He attended Drake University in Des Moines and graduated in 2002 in pre-med, biology and math. He then had the opportunity to work with Dr. Tom Davis in the athletic department and completed his master’s degree in business administration in 2005 from Drake.
Metcalf returned to the area to manage the family farm near Libertyville. In 2008, he began his tenure with the Fairfield Shelter Insurance agency.
In his spare time, he has been involved in the Ambassador Club of the Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce, the Rotary Club board of directors, the Historic Preservation Commission, Fairfield Park & Recreation Foundation, and he has been a township trustee for Liberty Township. He also helps the Trojans as head-timer for FHS track meets and runs the scoreboard for all home basketball games.
Metcalf and his wife Morae reside on an acreage outside of Libertyville.
