Crow Creek discussion at library Thursday
The public is invited to learn about a new Jefferson County water quality protection project at a public meeting scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday at the Fairfield Public Library.
Crow Creek Watershed is 11,535 acres in size and nearly 20 percent of the watershed lies within the city of Fairfield. Crow Creek begins near the airport and travels south through Maharishi University of Management, Waterworks Park, Chautauqua Park, Lamson Woods and eventually empties into Cedar Creek near Highway 1.
The watershed project will begin with an assessment slated to start in late January. Project partners include the city of Fairfield, Pathfinders Resource Conservation and Development, the Jefferson County Soil and Water Conservation District and the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship.
