Chrystal Knight, left, accepts gifts Saturday morning from members of Fairfield Habitat for Humanity at the dedication of her home at 807 N. Ninth Street in Fairfield. Knight lives at the home with Dustin Wickenkamp and their three children. Fairfield Habitat for Humanity has a tradition of giving new homeowners three gifts at the dedication: “First is the gift of bread that this house may never know hunger; the gift of salt so that life may always have flavor; and finally the gift of wine so that joy and prosperity may reign here forever.” At the dedication Saturday, a bottle of peach lemonade took the place of wine. Awarding the gifts were, from left, Dian Ong, Kathy Brown and Jody Loin. Brown said the three gifts were inspired by a scene in the movie, “It’s a Wonderful Life.”
