Dog agility park grand opening set Saturday, Sunday
Girl Scout Danielle Garrison is holding a grand opening celebration for the Fairfield Dog Agility Park from 2-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Fairfield Dog Park in O.B. Nelson Park.
Garrison, a Fairfield High School senior, is hosting the event to complete her Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest award a girl can earn in the Girl Scout organization.
Garrison is inviting any and all dog owners and their dogs, leashed and under control, to attend the open house event as she is planning on teaching attendees how to use the dog agility equipment. She added all non-dog owners are welcome to come to the open house, too.
Garrison is hoping to have a lot of dog owners and dogs to come to the open house so she can show them how to use the equipment and offer advice on how to get the dogs to not be afraid of the equipment.
She also will go over the rules of the dog agility park during the open house.
Garrison recently completed getting the fence installed and a sign posted about the agility park. She got the equipment donated, and it is installed in the park.
The park is open during the same hours of the dog park.
Garrison has participated in the Jefferson County Fair 4-H dog project club for the past three years. Her dogs Max and Sassy earned the best agility-small dog and best agility-medium dog award, respectively, at the 2012 Greater Jefferson County Fair 4-H dog show. Her dog Max also won High Scoring Dog in Obedience in 2011.
