Douds Field Day begins Friday
DOUDS — The Douds Community Club will present the 65th annual Douds Field Day Friday through Sunday.
The event kicks off with the Douds-Leano alumni banquet at 5 p.m. Friday at the Van Buren Elementary Center in Douds.
Saturday begins with a pancake and sausage breakfast from 7-10 a.m. at the Douds Community Center.
Registration for the prince and princesses contest will be at 10 a.m. in Leando Park.
The parade, with the theme “Salute to Bridge Builders,” will step off at 10:30 a.m. Marybelle Hootman will be the grand marshal.
Lunch will served on the grounds from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The afternoon will include a cake walk at 12:30 p.m.
The Van Buren Farm Bureau will sponsor old-fashioned kids’ games and a bounce house at 1 p.m.
Kids can register for a sanctioned pedal tractor pull at 1:30 p.m., with the pull beginning shortly after.
A pork loin picnic dinner, prepared by the Douds TTT Chapter, will be served and a concert will get underway at 5 p.m. A freewill offering will be collected. The suggested donation is $10 per person.
The Common Bond concert will begin at 7 p.m. Those attending should bring lawn chairs.
Sunday will begin with a community worship service at Mt. Moriah Church north and west of Douds.
Bailey’s BBQ will serve lunch at noon at Yates Memorial Park.
A fun horse show is planned at 1:30 p.m. at Yates Memorial Park. Entry is free, and prizes will be presented to class winners. For information about the horse show, call Alex Richards at 641-936-4424.
