Duo Del Sol playing at Sondheim■ Fairfield Concert Association members are admitted free
Fairfield Concert Association presents Duo Del Sol, featuring guitarist Tom Farrell and violinist Javier Orman, as part of its 2016-17 season at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center’s Stephen Sondheim Center for the Performing Arts.
Duo Del Sol has been labeled “Avant-sonic acrobats” by L.A. Weekly and “exceptional genius” by I Am Entertainment Magazine.
Taking their acrobatics and genius to the stage, this firebrand duo takes no prisoners. They harness the raw energy of a rock band by wildly pursuing their instrumental limits beyond any conventional methods and what’s left is evocative powerful music.
“The guitar in Duo Del Sol is the drum set, the bass, the cello and the mandolin,” says Farrell, whose musical journey began in Chicago. “I continuously discover new sounds and new ways of approaching this instrument.”
Orman, born in Israel and raised in Montevideo, Uruguay, has a similar experience with the violin: “It’s my voice; it’s my way out. The violin is so close to the human voice, but it can also sound like an electric guitar or even a trombone at any moment, which makes playing it a really freeing experience.”
The program for the evening will feature a variety of music. Along with original compositions, the duo will include eclectic arrangements of classic crowd favorites like Gershwin to rock ‘n’ roll legends like The Beatles and Led Zeppelin.
Fairfield Concert Association members are admitted free to the performance with proof of membership.
General admission tickets are available to the public for $20 and are available at the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center ticket office and online at www.FairfieldACC.com.
