Eighth grade girls beat Bloodhounds
The Fairfield eighth grade girl’s basketball team moved to 3-0 Monday with a victory over Fort Madison.
The A team won 46-23 and led 30-10 at halftime. Fort Madison had a 6-foot-1-inch player that scored 21 of the Bloodhounds’ 23 points.
“Our offense did a nice job in the first half,” Fairfield coach Derek Philips said. “We continue to push the ball, which wears down the other team.”
Nicole Buch led the Trojans with 21 points. Amiah Neff scored eight and Ashtyn Drish scored seven.
The B team also moved to 3-0 by winning 34-18. The B team went on a 12-0 run in the third quarter that sealed the win. Lynsey Finney scored 14 points and Katrina Cecchini added 10.
“We got a lot of lay ups because we pushed the ball really well tonight. These girls continue to get better every game,” said Philips.
The Trojans’ play again today at home against Burlington Aldo Leopold.
