Eldon’s holiday events features Christmas Tree Wanderland
ELDON — “It’s Christmas Time in Eldon” will get under way Friday and continue Saturday and Sunday.
The annual Christmas Tree Wanderland will be set up at the McHaffey Opera House. The display will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
The Christmas Tree Wanderland features more than 100 Christmas trees decorated and displayed by volunteers. Complimentary snacks are served, and live music is presented.
Admission to the Christmas Tree Wanderland display is free.
The Eldon Depot, will be open from noon to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The former Rock Island Line train depot is now a museum with memorabilia from the train line.
The Gothic Area Tourism of Eldon will serve a Christmas lunch at 11 a.m. Saturday at the KD Center.
Santa will be at the Eldon Legion Hall to visit with children at 1 p.m. Saturday.
The American Gothic House Center’s display of gingerbread houses will serve as inspiration for participants in the gingerbread house-making activity from 1-4 p.m. Saturday.
The activity is designed for younger family members to learn how to build, design and decorate gingerbread houses using graham crackers, frosting and candy. Volunteers will be on hand to help, and there will be Christmas treats for the builders.

Local Boy Scouts will serve a soup supper from 5-7 p.m. Saturday at the KD Center.
